ISLAMABAD- The Supreme Court has restored senior journalist Mohammad Malik as the Managing Director of the state-run television.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Saqib Nisar and Justice Athar Saeed took up Malik's application and restored him as MD PTV after suspending a ruling of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The court said the IHC verdict has caused an 'irreparable' loss to the national channel by barring the MD from working.

The IHC had cancelled Malik's appointment as null and void on the grounds that the government had not fulfilled the legal requirements for the high-level slot.

The Supreme Court’s hearing was later adjourned for an indefinite period.
