Consumers’ rights will be fully protected and no one will be allowed to exploit them, declared Commissioner Gujranwala Division Shamail Ahmad Khawaja during a surprise visit to Sasta Ramazan Bazaar here the other day.

He enquired from the consumers about the availability of commodities and ordered that the complaints of consumers should be entered in register and redress promptly.

He said that the Punjab government had provided huge subsidy to ensure provision of all essential commodities to the consumers during the holy month of Ramazan. He said that no compromise would be made on quality and rates of edibles.

The Commissioner also declared Hafizabad Ramazan Bazaar as the best bazaar across the division and appreciated the local administration particularly DCO Mansoor Qadir, DPO Muhammad Zubair Dareshak, ADC Nouman Hafeez for their strict monitoring to provide relief to the consumers.

Earlier, the DCO informed the commissioner that mutton was being sold at Rs430 against Rs550, beef at Rs225 at against Rs300, chicken Rs220 per kg while sugar was being sold at Rs45 per kg and 10 kg wheat flour at Rs310 from the open market.
