Punjab Minister for Zakat and Ushar Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that all Ramazan Bazaars across Punjab have been linked through an online monitoring system and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif personally monitors the situation on daily basis.

Talking to journalists here after visiting Ramazan Bazaars on Thursday, the minister added that the Punjab government had utilised all out resources to offer maximum relief to the citizens in the holy month of Ramazan. He declared that entire staff appointed at a Ramazan bazaar would be suspended if sub-standard edibles including fruits and vegetables were found or complaints of profiteering were received. He claimed that big turnout of customers at Ramazan Bazaars was proof of the fact that Punjab Government’s efforts to offer relief to the citizens had succeeded.

Referring to the prices of commodities at Ramazan Bazaars, he said that besides comparatively low prices of other daily-use items and edibles than the market, sugar was also available at Rs45 per kg. He added that special subsidy was given by the Punjab government on aatta, ghee and pulses. He said that steps were taken on war footings by the government to control price hike. He warned that no one would be allowed to create fake shortage of goods or price hike.

Earlier, the minister visited different stalls and inquired about the prices of different items. He also got weighed aatta bags and sugar packs. He issued order for installation of walkthrough gates on the entry points of all bazaars and directed the district administration to keep eye on suspicious elements. 

Meanwhile, DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal declared that the Ramadan Bazaar set up at Dera Adda Chowk was being made functional round the clock on special direction of the Chief Minister. “It will be the only bazaar of its kind in entire Punjab. We’re going to turn it into Eid Bazaar where jewellery, cosmetics, garments and hina will also be available,” he added.

Answering a question, he said that the fate of the city would completely change after accomplishment of Metro Bus project. He added that the project would offer cheaper travelling facilities to the citizens. 

To another query, he said that the profiteering and adulteration mafia had been thrown out of the district as those robbing poor citizens did not deserve any mercy. He said that he personally visited sabzi and fruit mandi daily and got the process of auction done under his supervision. He urged upon the citizens to visit the mandi and do shopping to feel the difference.
