Ch Amjad Iqbal assumed the charge as deputy commissioner of Bhimbher District of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. He replaced Mirza Arshad Jiraal who has been transferred to Muzaffarabad.

The new deputy commissioner has long distinguished career in AJK civil service. He has performed as Collector Mangla Dam Resettlement Organisation before he was transferred and posted as DC Bhimbher.

He had performed a significant role during impounding of the recently raised Mangla Dam by ensuring complete peace and order in the district despite resistance by certain pressure groups and action committees formed by the Mangla Dam affectees. Amjad had earlier performed as additional deputy commissioner (general) and AC Mirpur.

2 die as vehicle falls in stream: Two persons died when a vehicle skidded off the road and fell in a stream here Friday morning. Search for the bodies and vehicle was in progress.Police said that in Tattapanni area of district Kotli, a vehicle carrying two people got out of control of driver due to speeding and slippery road condition and fell into a stream flooded with rainwater which swept away the vehicle along with riders.

Search for the bodies and vehicle was in progress and police, rescue personnel, relatives of the missing persons and dwellers of the area are taking part in the operation.
