LAHORE - In international ranking of more than 20,000 universities of the world conduct by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain, Punjab University has secured 15th position in South Asia, which is a landmark achievement while it has topped among all Pakistani universities.
As per ranking, Aga Khan University and National University of Science and Technology have secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively in Pakistan. CSIS issues “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” every year evaluating more than 20,000 universities throughout the world and it has 126 centres.
According to the new ranking, PU has obtained 1899th position out of more than 20,000 universities and now it is included among the top 10 per cent universities of the world. Punjab University Academic Staff Association President Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain and others have congratulated PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran on this achievement.
Meanwhile, renowned atomic scientist and founder of Pakistan’s nuclear programme Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, senior journalists Mujeebur Rehman Shami, Arif Nizami, Ataur Rehman and people from all walks of life have congratulated PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran.
In his message, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said that ranking of PU among the best 8 percent universities and institutes worldwide, 15th position in South Asia and No 1 position in Pakistan was a wonderful achievement.
HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said that it was good news and said that the credit went to Dr Mujahid Kamran and we were proud of his leadership. Senior journalists Mujeebur Rehman Shami, Arif Nizami and Ataur Rehman have termed it big news and congratulated Dr Mujahid Kamran on this achievement.
