BAHAWALPUR-Jamaat-e-Islami’s leader Dr Wasim Akhtar said that the government has always neglected South Punjab especially Bahawalpur in the Punjab budget, demanding early restoration of the Bahawalpur province.

Thus, the people are falling victim of deprivation, he said. He added that billions of rupees are being spent on underpasses, overhead bridges and ring roads in Lahore while people of Sothern Punjab are deprived of such facilities however some small projects which are started could not be completed due to lack of funds.

Dozens of people lose their lives due unavailability of an overhead bridge or an underpass in front of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. He said that if orange line, metro train and metro bus establishes in Lahore or underpasses, overhead bridges and Ring Road is constructed then we are happy such projects should have happened but these projects should not have completed by usurping the funds of other areas and divisions.

He said that in the provincial budget 31.71 billion rupees were given to courts but performance of courts is questionable. He added that for the installation of jammers in Bahawalpur Central Jail, Rs330 million were spent which has become a critical issue for the business community.
