KARACHI - Pakistan Air Force on Sunday paid rich tribute to the world acclaimed humanitarian and iconic social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi. A PAF contingent led by Air Vice Marshal Salman Ahsan Bukhari, Air Officer Commanding, Southern Air Command, offered Fateha and laid a wreath at the grave of Abdul Sattar Edhi on behalf of Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief, in his message expressed, his heartfelt grief on the sad demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi, and said he was the pride of humanity, whose contributions and influence transcended borders and nationalities.  The Air Chief also said Edhi was indeed a pioneer in the field of social service and the models of excellence set by him were replicated world over.  While heading one of the largest private social services in the world, Edhi lived a very humble life with negligible possession and wore his greatness lightly. The Air Chief further said that he was the proud face of our national character, and has left us a mission to embrace the love of humanity and work for the well being of the destitute and downtrodden.

Special prayers held in Shikarpur

Special prayers ceremony was held at GymKhana Shikarpur on Sunday, where a large number of people from all walks of life paid glowing tribute to late legendary social leader and humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi. Journalists, citizens and representatives of civil society including Naveed Alam Abro, Sultan Rind, Waheed Phulpoto, Waheed Brohi, AK Soomro, and others paid glowing tribute to Edhi and lit candles to pay him homage. Naveed Alam Abro, the renowned social worker said that even people with highest social status could not match the love, respect, affection, and the status that Edhi received.

Shikarpur Press Club President Sultan Ahmed said that Edhi was a great personality who donated his eyes as he departed while Edhi always preached for serving humanity. A large number of political, social, and religious personalities attended the special prayers on the eve of Edhi's soyem and recited verses from the Holy Quran for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
