The famous Urdu poet Qateel Shifai is being remembered on his 20th death anniversary observed on Sunday.
Being born on 24 December 1919 in Haripur, he was named Muhammad Aurangzeb which he later changed on to Qateel Shifai as his pen name.
His contribution to the literature includes 20 collections of verses with 2500 songs for film.
Shifai was awarded the Pride of Performance in 1994, an Adamjee Award, Naqoosh Award and Abasin Arts Council Award for his contribution to literature.
He died on 11 July, 2001 in Lahore.
