HAFIZABAD

The Anti-Corruption Establishment Hafizabad has registered a case against the former City Police on the charge of allegedly keeping a citizen in illegal confinement and extorting Rs40,000 from his pocket sometime back.  According to the ACE, Muhammad Ramzan Anwar submitted an application to the ACE Punjab Director General to the effect that his car (LHO-5659) was lifted away by the unidentified accused sometime back and he approached the City Police for the registration of a case against the accused and recovery of his stolen vehicle. But the then City Police SHO refused to register a case. Thereupon, he filed a writ petition in the District and Sessions Court, requesting for the registration of a case.

On this, the then SHO summoned him at the police station and locked him in the lock-up and also removed Rs40,000 and some documents from his pocket. After completion of inquiry, the ACE Hafizabad has registered a case against former City Police SHO Rana Farzand Ali and started investigation.
