Karachi -Fireworks over brewing security situation and targeted killings in Lyari and other parts of Karachi are expected in Sindh Assembly on Tuesday (today).

The second session of the first parliamentary year of the provincial assembly would commence at 3:00 pm with Acting Speaker Shehla Raza in the chair. Oath taking by the remaining new members and other business is on agenda for today’s proceedings.

As Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani has been officiating as acting governor in absence of Dr Ishratul Ebad, who left for Saudi Arabia this week to perform Umrah, Shehla Raza has taken charge as acting speaker to run the House.

The agenda for today’s sitting was dispatched to the members by the assembly secretariat on Monday evening. It carries oath of new members, lying of ordinances and announcement of assent of the governor of Sindh to the bills passed by the outgoing provincial assembly.

According to order of the day, after prayers for deceased souls, the chair will announce a panel of four chairmen, who will chair the sitting in absence of the speaker and deputy speaker.

Five members Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim of PML-N, Dr Seema Zia of PTI, three members of PPP-Dost Muhammad Rahimon, Khaliluz Zaman (son of Makhdoom Amin Fahim), both elected from Thar district and Abid Sundrani of Jacobabad will take oath as member of the assembly.

JI holds APC today

The Jamaat-e-Islami will hold an All Parties Conference today under the theme of “Fake mandate and peace of Karachi” at Idara Noor-e-Haq. According to a party spokesman, JI General Secretary Liaquat Baloch will chair the conference while leaders of different political and religious parties will also attend the conference.

Meanwhile, a broad-day light robbery was reported at the residence of JI’s former Union Council Nazim Junaid Makati in Bahadurabad area.
