Massive protest if rigging not probed seriously: Imran

LAHORE- PTI Chairman Imran Khan has threatened to launch a massive protest along with his party men after Eidul Fitr if serious investigations are not carried out against the alleged rigging in the general elections.
Talking to media people on Monday, Imran said the judiciary and the Election Commission had disappointed the masses during the general polls as the umpires of the elections had become partisans. He announced PTI, taking benefit of access to information under the 18th Amendment, would get ballot papers’ counter-files for recounting of the votes.
Imran said PTI lost the polls due to its failure to completely understand technical mechanics of the polling day. He said PML-N would have to transfer power to grassroots level to ensure good governance and it should free the police and bureaucracy from political influence.
He said PTI would play the role of a real opposition in the Parliament but, at the same time, it would support PML-N on the issues of national interest. Imran claimed the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa would eliminate terrorism.
Meanwhile, PTI Punjab chapter held a meeting to review the performance of districts Okara and Sahiwal party leaders in the general elections, rigging in polls and preparations for by-elections as well as local bodies’ polls. The meeting was chaired by Punjab President Ijaz Chaudhry and attended by Dr Yasmeen Rashid and others. The party leadership directed the office bearers to start preparing for local bodies’ elections.
