Raja Zafar made leader of the house in Senate

Islamabad- The federal government on Monday appointed senior PML-N leader Raja Zafarul Haq as Leader of the House in the Senate to represent the federal government in the Upper House of the Parliament.
The Prime Minister’s office also formally de-notified Senator Farooq H Naek from the slot of Leader of the House. Former Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso had appointed Naek as Leader of the House because PPP’s lawmaker Jehangir Badar had resigned from the post soon after the dissolution of former PPP-led federal government. A notification issued by PM Office says that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has appointed Raja Mohammad Zafarul Haq as Leader of the House in the Senate.
Under the rules, the leader of the house in the Senate is considered as representative of Prime Minister who represents the federal government on behalf of PM. Former Leader of the House Senator Farooq H Naek, some days ago, had tendered his resignation from the slot before Nawaz Sharif was to take oath as Prime Minister. He had taken the step as the caretaker government was going to be de-notified and he was the representative of the interim set-up in the house.
