State Minister for Education Muhammad Baleeghur Rehman has said the provincial education ministers' conference will be held next month in Islamabad where a decision to establish Educational Curriculum Council will be made.
Talking to The Nation at his residence, the minister said that the federal government would equip Islamabad police with modern and sophisticated weapons besides getting them trained from Turkey. He dispelled the impression of a rift between the government and the establishment. He said that there was close coordination and liaison between the government and the armed forces. The minister stated the PML-N government was laying a network of development projects across South Punjab to change the destiny of the masses.
He cited the examples of mega projects in Bahawalpur region, and said that the launching of Pakistan's first solar power plant, a cardiology hospital and a veterinary university in Bahawalpur and construction of  dual carriageway from Bahawalpur to Hasilpur were the fresh initiatives of PML-N government for the urban and rural populace.
He said that the government was striving to make Pakistan the Asian Tiger while its policies had started bearing fruits. He claimed that the federal budget was pro-people as huge funds have been allocated for the development of power, water, education, science and technology sectors.
He said that these funds would be increased every year. He said that the government was according top priority to overcominh power shortage. Some 21,000 MW of electricity would be added to the national grid in the next seven to eight years, he said.
The minister asked the opposition parties to a play positive role in the national and provincial assemblies and stop disturbing peace by organising rallies and staging demonstrations.
To a question, he said that the required funds were being earmarked for the projects proposed by him in his constituency NA-185. In the areas, during last five years, billions of rupees funds had been spent on dozens of projects including Women University, District Headquarters Hospital and Northern Bypass, Flyover, and Special Education College in Bahawalpur.
