PESHAWAR - Economic Coordinator to Chief Minister KP Rafaqat Ullah Babar organised a meeting here on Tuesday for taking substantial steps regarding women empowerment in the province.

Roghani, Secretary Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department Syed Hidayat Jan, ZIaullah, Deputy Director Information Technology and Abdul Basit, Assistant Director IT were also present in the meeting.

The meeting decided to make a comprehensive plan to enhance women

empowerment, development and self dependency among them across the province. For this purpose, various training centres, IT training, vocational centres, social welfare schemes and other productive centres would be encouraged to ensure self-dependency of females either in rural and Urban areas of the province. The provincial government has intended to the empowerment and

development of women in the province and also to promote gender equality and their role in decision making in the Provincial government as well.

The UNDP has pledged to assist the provincial government in this regard, as the provincial government has already allocated a budget of Rs45.5 million for this Project. The role of IT in this regard was also considered as  pivotal which would yield a better repercussion on the society.

Currently there are 397 IT laboratory in various higher secondary school throughout the province.

 The assistant director IT added 25 female quota has been reserved in IT department. The condition of female livings in Darul- Aman would also be enhanced and strongly encouraged though various skills which would help ensure their self dependency.  Economic Coordinator to Chief Minister Rrafaqat Ullah Babar said that the IT department could play an important role by creating awareness among females and other vocational training in this regard.  Various schemes to empower women in the villages and rural areas were also discussed.
