WAH CANTT: Eye Donors Organisation (EDO), an NGO working for the prevention, cure and rehabilitation of visually handicapped, celebrated its 34th foundation day in a befitting manner on Tuesday.

In this connection a free eye camp was organized at newly established modern eye hospital at Wah Cantonment where around 3 thousand people from Taxila, Wah Cantt, Hassanabdal and Haripur turned up to camp where they were provided free medicines and  spectacles after check up through latest and high-tech machines. On this occasion around 400 patients were registered were registered for eye operation which would be carried out in EDO eye hospital by prominent eye surgeon Dr Mumtaz Choudhary.  The free camp was organized by local PML N leader and former MPA Umer Farooq while a large number of dignitaries, philanthropists, ophthalmologists, social workers, politicians, civil and military officials and others participated in the event.

Patron in Chief EDO Syed Abdullah Masood and former MPA Umer Farooq in their  presentations paid rich tribute to the pioneers of EDO who worked day and night to establish this organization and made it possible to make EDO a truly public service health organization. They said that purpose of conducting free eye camps was to provide best eye care facilities to needy and poor at their doorstep. They said that "congenitally blind patients whose sight was restored are also being provided free physiotherapy which will help them with their recovery and adjusting to their surroundings," they said.–Staff Reporter
