KARACHI - Two robbers were tortured to death by a mob in Orangi Town, Karachi on Tuesday.

Police sources said the two suspects were trying to escape after injuring a passerby Kamran Aslam.

Aslam offered resistance in a robbing bid. A crowd of people gathered, caught the robbers and beat them. They were being shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but they died on the way. They were later identified as Zahoor Alam and Tameer Shah, residents of Baldia Town. SHO Ghulam Rasool Rajper while taking the credit claimed that both the robbers were killed during an exchange of fire with the police.

Similarly, an alleged Lyari gangster Abdul Hameed aka Lambu was killed while his companion managed to escape during an encounter near Chawal Godown in Maripur area. SHO Chaudhry Saleem said the victim gangster was involved in snatching trucks. The encounter took place when he and his companion were trying to snatch the truck loaded with rice.

The officer said the Sindh government had kept Rs500,000 reward for his arrest. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, an owner of the milk shop was shot dead when armed motorcyclists opened fire at his shop in Rizvia area. The victim was identified as Khalid Jamil. He was shot multiple times and died at the spot. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said the incident occurred over offering resistance in a robbing bid.

Earlier, two personnel of the traffic police were shot injured by armed motorcyclists in Orangi Town. Police said the injured Munir Khan, 35, and his younger brother Ahmed Ali, 35, were going home after completing duties when the armed motorcyclists targeted them.
