The Hague - Four different players notched goals as the US women's field hockey team defeated South Africa 4-2 Tuesday morning, finishing group play undefeated and advancing to the World Cup semifinals in The Hague, Netherlands.

Caroline Nichols, Katie Reinprecht, Lauren Crandall and Rachel Dawson each found the back of the net for the United States (4-0-1), which took a 1-0 lead into halftime. South Africa (1-4-0) evened the match on a goal from Marsha Cox before Reinprecht answered three minutes later. Crandall's tally extended the US lead before Lisa-Marie Deetlefs pulled South Africa within one.

It was as close as South Africa would get, as Dawson scored in the 56th minute to pad the United States' lead and send the team to the World Cup semifinals for the first time since 1984 when the US finished third.
