KARACHI - Pakistan spends around $12 billion yearly to import crude oil which brought heaviest impact over the import bill. The seventy percent of import bill comprise over the payment of oil which is mostly use for the power generation.
Country can avoid the traded deficit and turn it surplus by using advance technology specially by using the solar energy to control the energy crisis. There is a dire need of a policy to streamline the output of solar energy.
Mailk Bostan Chairman Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan while talking to The Nation said country like Saudi Arabia the largest oil producer now planned the alternate energy sources specially planned solar energy production to address the demand of energy, so it is a high time for Pakistan to adopt some advance techniques to address the energy crisis.
Germany has zero percent solar resource compared to the Pakistan but holding the top position in the world being as smart user of solar energy. In Germany most of the public established the home based solar plants and sale their extra power to the government, if Pakistan adopt this type of strategy can easily quit from the energy crisis with in a year, he added.
Malik Bostan said, the coast of per unit is around Rs 18 on oil, Rs 6-8 on solar and Rs 2 on hydel respectively, we have so many natural resources for power generation that is also support the country to avoid the IMF support and reduced the import bill. Majyd Aziz former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industries informed The Nation that government has to allocate some budget to develop this sector. Country like India and Mauritius install the solar geezers at residential areas to overcome the energy crisis the same example can be adopt in Pakistan specially in Karachi and Lahore where government provided on easy installment and interest free solar geezers to address the issue.
He further said there is a dire need to control the indirect losses which is meaning less for common man. Around 150 million mobile users in the country excessively use the cell phone that ultimately heart the available energy resources in the country while the same case in use of television were seen.
Majyd Aziz further said if the government install 30,000 solar based tube wells as per it commitment will further reduce the cost solar systems. Fakhr Ahmad Khalifa chief Executive SR Solutions said alternate sources of the energy would be a better solution to address the ongoing energy crisis in the country. Specially the wealthy source of sunlight can be use in different segment of live to higher the living standards as well as industrial growth.
Pakistan has a favourable environment for solar and wind energy as compared to the Germany who topped the position in world as solar energy producer and users.
Not only in the mega city of the country we can deal with this smartly also develop the urban and rural part of the country specially Balochistan, Sindh and other remote areas of the country, he added.
There is some example set by the present government but unfortunately the lake of awareness is the biggest side back of unguided investment.
Fakhar Ahmad said solar park is a very good initiative taken by the government but it is the expensive farm of solar energy, if the government uses solar thermal at this level that would be cost effective. Solar panels are best for the small units specially shops, home or offices.
He further informed The Nation a policy must be needed to streamlined the underdevelopment sector to facilitate the masses. Without policy country facing so many crises currently the low class solar panel is the big threat for the stake holders.
Fakhar Ahmad said Germany holding the top position in world as a number one user of solar energy compared to the Pakistan having minor source of sunlight. Specially in the financial hub of the country we can utilise the solar energy in residential areas that thickly populated with high rise buildings. The same model exists in China where most of the residential buildings use solar solutions for different purpose.
