Punjab govt decides to block SIMs of unvaccinated people

| Health Minister sees considerable decrease in number of cases | Says all out resources being used to control COVID-19

LAHORE   -  Punjab government has decided to block SIMs of people not getting vaccinated and start walk-in vaccination of over 18 years of age group from June 12. Decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid at Civil Secretariat here on Thursday. 

Present in the meeting were Chief Secretary Punjab, Additional Chief Secretary, DGPR, Secretaries of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department and Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department and top civil and military officials. 

It was decided that mobile vaccination camps will be set up around all shrines. All business will be opened in districts getting more than 20 percent population vaccinated. 

The Health Minister said, “We have seen considerable decrease in number of cases. The government is utilizing all out resources for control of COVID-19 under the leadership of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. The credit of reduction in cases goes to administration. We are ensuring vaccination of all citizens at 677 centers in Punjab. From Saturday, we are opening walk-in vaccination of people of over 18 years of age. Now people can get vaccinated on showing CNIC. People can contact 1033 for complaints or queries regarding vaccination. All districts will ensure vaccination of people. 

Vaccinated people shall be allowed to join cinema halls, marriage halls, restaurants. People suffering terminal illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer shall now be vaccinated on priority.”
