Rangers have taken Karachi's sensitive places under their control and they are responsible for assuring all out security for people, some media reports said on early Wednesday. According to rangers' sources, this decision was taken to maintain the law and order situation in city in view of lawyers' long march and sit-in call commencing from March 12. According to spokesman Sindh rangers, rangers were entrusted task to ensure security in and around sensitive places in Karachi including Governor House, Chief Minister House, important hotels, restaurants after authorities received reports in regards with possible terrorist attacks in Karachi. He said rangers have taken their responsibilities. Meanwhile, chief Karachi police told a private TV , "Deployment of rangers took place after as many as 500 personnel of Karachi police were sent to Islamabad for stepping up security measures in the middle of lawyers' long march." Rangers will withdraw their newly assigned duties after the return of 500 police officials from Islamabad, he maintained.
