ISLAMABAD (APP) - Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry on Wednesday took suo moto notice of skin disease in Lundi Khosa near Dadardue, a backward area of Balochistan. According to a press release, the disease directly affects skin and eyesight, and can also cause death. The decision came after the chief justice took notice of a report on aired by a private TV channel last week. The afflicted children pass through an agonising and painful experience and ultimately die, as no facility and treatment for the said disease is available in the area. The notices have been issued to the advocate general Balochistan and provisional secretary Health to appear before the court on March 23. The secretary has also been directed to send a team of medical specialists to the area to investigate/diagnose the disease and submit a report within 10 days suggesting cure/remedial measures for treatment of the disease. Article 9 of the Constitution guarantees the rights to life, such as health care/medical treatment, and it is responsibility of the state to provide healthcare and treatment to its citizens and protect them from such crippling the health disease, the press release stated.
