2 Indian teams to appear in Munir Dar Hockey



LAHORE - Munir Dar Under-16 International Hockey Tournament will be played here in the mid of next month with two teams from India participating in it.
Former Olympian Tauqir Ahmad Dar said this at a news conference here on Saturday here at National Hockey Stadium. Former Olympian Akhlaq Ahmad, chief coach of Dar hockey academy, was also present on the occasion.  "The aim of holding this event in U-16 category is to encourage hockey at grass root level and the presence of two Indian teams will make the tournament thrilling and interesting," he said.  Tauqir said altogether seven teams would take part in the event. Apart from Indian teams, five teams from Pakistan will participate. "Indian teams have confirmed their participation."
To a query, he said, former Olympians Shahanaz Sheikh and Islahuddin should be appointed coach and manager of Pakistan team for London Olympics as they claim that they have the extra-ordinary knowledge of modern day hockey to change the fortunate of Pakistan team.”
The former Olympian said All Pakistan Munir Dar Memorial hockey tournament being played from March 15 to 21 at Bahwalpur will be participated by 10 teams which are Customs, PIA, NBP, Wapda, Railways, KPT, Sui Gas, Pak Steel Mills, Police and Army.
