Almas bowls ZTBL to win



LAHORE – Seven-star Almas Akram bowled Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) to 10-weicket crushing victory over Rawalpindi Region in the seventh National Women Cricket Championship Pool-B match here at Lahore Gymkhana ground on Saturday.
Rawalpindi Region, batting first, could manage to score paltry 47 runs in 15.1 overs as Iqra Maroof (11) and Sara Rasheed (10) reached double figures. Almas Akram was top bowler for ZTBL as she grabbed superb seven wickets for 24 runs while Kanita Jalil took 2-15.  ZTBL, in reply, chased the small target easily without any loss in 5.4 overs. Sana Mir scored unbeaten 25 runs off 15 balls laced with five fours and Rabia Shah made unbeaten 11. Almas Akram of ZTBL was declared player of the match. In another pool-B match here at Ittefaq Cricket ground, Peshawar region and Sialkot Region played closely-contested match which was won by Peshawar by one wicket.
Sialkot Region, batting first, scored a good total of 194 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. Saima Jamil made 39 runs off 75 balls with four fours while Rafia Liaqat added 36 and Nadia Naseem 30. Zainab Khan claimed 3-32 and Yousra Amin 2-23. Peshawar Region, in reply, chased the target in the last over having only one wicket in their hands. Ayesha Naeem played well and scored 30 while Arfa Hasan managed 31 and Shakeela Naz 22. Saba Sardar took 2-21. Ayesha Amin of Peshawar Region was named player of the match.
