ISLAMABAD - Lahore and Multan Regions recorded thumping victories after beating their respective rivals in the seventh National Women Cricket Championship Pool A matches here on Saturday.

Lahore Region beat Islamabad by five wickets. Put into bat first, Islamabad were bundled out for a partly 102 runs in 25.1 overs. Uzma Kanwal made 28 runs and Huma Shafiq 17. Bakhtawar Iqbal claimed four wickets for 7 runs while Namra Iqbal got 2 for 20.  Lahore Region, in reply, achieved the target in 35.3 overs after losing five wickets. Komal Feroz made 19 and Namra Imran unbeaten 17. Anoshey Malik got 2 for 24. Bakhtawar was named woman of the match.

In the second match of the day, Multan thrashed Abbottabad by 171 runs. Multan piled up 267 runs for the loss of seven wickets in allotted 50 overs. Sana Gulzar (63) and Fakhira Kazmi (53) batted brilliantly. Sadia Bibi clinched three for 46. In reply, Abbottabad were all out for just 96 runs in 42.4 overs. Only Sadia Bibi reached double figures with 14 runs. Nadia Hussain grabbed three wickets for 17 while Fakhira Kazmi and Hadia Hussain shared two wickets each. Fakhira Kazmi was declared player of the match.
