Nepra increases tariffs of 6 IPPs

ISLAMABAD : National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the power tariff of IPPs in view of increase in the prices of furnace oil. The increase has been allowed between 52 paisas to 83 paisas per unit. NEPRA sources said here on Saturday that the increase in tariff has been allowed to six IPPs as the furnace oil price has touched Rs 72,000 per ton. According to details, Liberty Power Company has been allowed to increase tariff by 76 paisas per unit, Nishat Chunian 52 paisas, Orient 82 paisas and Safair 83 paisas per unit. The increase in tariff would be effective from February and the increase would be passed on to the consumers from April, 2012.
