RAWALPINDI - The moment Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif was highlighting the corruption of President Asif Ali Zardari and disrespect of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Glani for the verdicts of apex court, Rawalpindi police were busy maltreating and detaining a poor lady and her young daughter who wanted to lodge a complaint with the CM against police for not arresting the killer of her two daughters despite passing nine months.

According to details, Shahjahan Begum, her daughter Sobia Naz and a relative Sher Khan reached PMAS-AAUR with an application to file with the CM against police for not nabbing the killer of her two daughters Saima Naz and Saira Naz, who had been killed 9 months ago in a hostel in the limits of Police Station (PS) Civil Line, after getting news that CM would address a public meeting there.

Nonetheless, police deputed for security barred the complainants at the university gate and did not allow them to enter the place where PML-N league leadership was gathered to address a public meeting.

Upon insisting, police detained the complainants into a room built at Gate number 1 for the security guards. Police thrashed the lady, her daughter Sobia and relative Sher mercilessly and freed them only after departure of the CM from public meeting.

Newly appointed SP Potohar Town Raja Basharat was escorting the victim ladies to arrange her meeting with higher authorities when media stopped the ladies for interview while SP vanished from the scene.

Shahjahan Begum, while talking to media, said that on June 20, 2011 an assassin Asad launched a brazen attack at a hostel killing her two daughters and injured the third one.

She said that she got filed a murder case with PS Civil Line but police did not arrest the killer despite her several requests. She said that Regional Police Officer (RPO) Captain (Retd) Muhammad Zubair and City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher also did not take notice of her plight. “Today I arrived here with Sobia and Sher to meet the CM for justice but SHO Raja Shakeel detained us in a room and tortured us mercilessly. I requested SHO to let us go as we do not want to meet CM but he does not pay heed and beat us with the help of lady police” She alleged that the killer was being guarded by near and dear ones of Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the opposition leader in National Assembly and MPA Malik Ghulam Raza. She termed Rawalpindi police the killers of her daughters and said that their lives were into danger.

An eyewitness told this scribe that police dragged the ladies on road by pulling their hair while hit their relative Sher Khan with kicks when they tried to get access inside. He said that the ladies were begging for pity but police thrashed them mercilessly.

Reportedly, CM Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif took notice of Pindi police brutality against the poor ladies and directed RPO Captain (Retd) Muhammad Zubair to arrest the killer of two girls and submit a report with CM Office. The CM also invited Shahjahan Begum for meeting in Lahore.
