The mournful cry of the dying peacocks was an indication that Thar was asking for help! I heard the call and it should have moved our people but no notice was taken. Now most of Thar is facing famine. It has been noticed that almost 100 children died due to it, not only humans but the animals of the area are also suffering. People are deprived of basic necessities such as food and water and they are appealing for help. Our government should declare an emergency in the area!
With generous and rich leaders like ex-president Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto, who made billions of dollars from Sindh and spent so lavishly on the Sindh festival, they should be the first to step up the efforts to help the people of Thar!
