CPO punishes 21 cops on various charges

Rawalpindi - City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi punished 21 police officers, including a lady constable, during an orderly room yesterday.
The CPO awarded departmental punishment to police officers over holding faulty investigation into cases, corruption, irresponsible behaviour during work, misbehaving with citizens and showing negligence during duty.
According to police spokesman, CPO Israr Ahmed demoted Muhammad Riaz from the rank of Sub Inspector (SI) Muhammad Riaz to assistant sub inspector besides demoting Tauqeer from Head Constable to constable. Similarly, CPO also demoted constables Yasir Ali and Habib Shah from two grades, he added. While hearing the show cause notices, he said, the CPO also forfeited one year service of constable Muhammad Azram, two years of constables Jabir Jamal, Adeel Ahmed whereas forfeited three years service of lady constable Shaista Bibi. The CPO also stopped promotions of Sub Inspector Muhammad Raffique, ASI Safdar Hussain, ASI Muhammad Naheem and ASI Nadim Altaf from three months to one year on various public complaints.
The CPO also imposed fine on Inspectors Yar Muhammad and Muhammad Ilyas, Sub Inspector Arshad Ali, ASI Mazhar Hussain, ASI Muhammad Yusaf, TASI Shafaqat and constables Muhammad Iqbal and Raffique Abbas, the spokesman said.
On the other hand, police carried out search operations in limits of police stations Pirwadhai and Morgah on orders of CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi. The search operation was part of National Action Plan, made by the government to stop militancy in the country after a deadliest armed attack on a military run school in Peshawar in December 2014 claiming lives of 134 students and other staffers, he said.
The police conducted door to door checking of 95 houses at Moragh and Kotha Kalan besides interrogating 632 residents. Similarly, a total of 110 houses were searched and 217 persons were grilled during operation, he added.
