Hindu community celebrates Holi in Attock

ATTOCK- Like other parts of the country, the Hindu community celebrated Holi (Festival of Colours) at Valmec Mandir here on Tuesday. The festival is celebrated every year in February or March and signifies new beginnings – leaving behind winter and welcoming spring. In this regard, a special gathering was held at Valmec Temple of Attock. Special sermons were delivered, preaching love and peace while prayers were offered for prosperity of Pakistan. Sweets and meals were distributed among all community members. Talking to media persons on this occasion, Pandit Sarwan Kumar said that the festival of colours rejuvenates the spirit of fun, freedom, love, respect and happiness to blend myths with religion for promoting harmony. Felicitating the Hindu community on the festival, he said it welcomes spring, brings joy, festivity and happiness for all sections of the society and promotes celebration among all communities. In Pakistan, the Hindu community celebrates the festival with a play of colours and also burns logs of wood to symbolize the victory of good over evil and observe Holi Pooja. He thanked the guests and representative of other communities who attended this festival and said this is the best message for the rest of the world that Hindus in Pakistan had been enjoying full religious freedoms and rights like other citizens. The Hindu community also throws colours blended in water, powdered colours and splash colour-filled balloons in what is also the first major festival of Hindus in the year.

80kg marijuana seized, 470 criminals held

Muzaffargarh - Muzaffargarh Police during its action against criminal elements seized 80 kg marijuana (chars), recovering illegal weapons arresting 470 criminals and absconders in last two months in various crackdowns. According to details, the district police launched an active campaign and arrested 70 a category criminals and 360 b ctegory wanted/ absconders. As many as 374 cases of narcotics were registered and 5,404 litre wine, 17.56 kg opium, 86 kg marijuana, 1.2 kg heroin was recovered. In holding illegal weapons cases, 163 criminals were arrested and 9 Kalashnikov, 41 rifles, 8 karbeen, 99 pistols, 384 cartridges were recovered from their possession. District Police Officer Syed Nadeem Abbas said the police were well-equipped with modern technology and resources. The criminals will be dealt with iron hands. Nobody is above the law. The police officers should maintain confidence among the public and solve all problems in time and under the law.

The district police officers brought good name in the department in a very short period winning first position in the region to eradicate social evils. The services of Ilyas Khan, Abdul Karim Khosa, Imran Mahrah, Munir Hussain and Iftikhar Ali Malkani are the real force officers of the district public security.
