Hearing in IPPs, power tariff cases adjourned

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned hearing till May 31 of suo moto cases pertaining to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and power tariff on the request of counsels for Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO). A three-member of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalil ur Rehman Ramday took up issues. PEPCO counsel, Khawaja Tariq Rahim appeared and sought time to file replies while distribution company counsel, Anwar Kamal requested for arrangement of equipment for making a slide show on next date of hearing which was accepted. The Chief Justice had taken suo moto notices on both issues relating to hike in electricity prices and functioning of independent power producers on newspapers clippings.
