'Modern day education requires use of internet'

Islamabad (Online) A colourful and well-organised Annual Prize Distribution Function was held at Joan McDonald School here on Monday. The event was to honour the top performing students who had excelled in academics, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. According to a Press Release, teachers and students had tastefully decorated the venue to make it a truly memorable day. Programme commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a heart warming welcome song by the tiny tots of K.G and Prep classes. An elaborate programme of three hours duration kept the audience spell-bound with scintillating national songs, skits, tableau, regional costumes, speeches and dramatic performances. The theme selected for this year was Professions and Career Opportunities in Pakistan. The audience was impressed by the ingenuity and creativity of the children. There was loud applause for students play acting as farmers, vegetable and fruit sellers, as well as doctors and engineers. The highest appreciation was for the role of teacher in society and the spirit of sacrifice displayed by the soldiers, airmen and sailors of the armed forces. The outstanding students and winners of triple gold medals were Samar Jalil, Arbab Naeem, Mahnoor Saeed, Aimen Naseer, Laiqa Jalil, M. Ali Chaudry, Abdul Aziz, Quratul Ain, M. Rafay Tariq, M. Fateh Tariq, Vanessa Shaikh, Mahadullah Shaikh and Mashal Fatima. The Chief Guest Mr S.D. Najmuddin, Administrator of the institution, expressed his deep appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the staff and the children.. The Principal M. Tariq Qureshi stressed the importance of conscientious endeavour combined with smart work. He said that modern day education required the use of internet to supplement the class work. Along with studies the students must build their character so that they could become useful citizens of the country. He exhorted them to find time for outdoor sports as only a healthy body could have a healthy mind. The stage secretary and publicity incharge Madam Hamim Qadri assured the gathering a very active scholastic programme for the year 2010-2011. The function concluded with a vote of thanks for the organizing committee and the music teacher Nadeem Joseph.
