ISLAMABAD (APP) Alliance Against Sexual Harassment at Workplace (AASHA) and working women from various walks of life will be together here on Tuesday to formally celebrate the passage of anti sexual harassment legislation. They will also share framework for effective implementation of the laws. The star-studded evening will be attended by media hosts Sania Saeed, Huma Shah, Anjum Rahman and Ayesha Sana who have been partners in the struggle. As the laws are fully backed by all major political parties, Parliamentarians from PPP, PML-N, PML-Q and MQM will be honored for their support for the passage of anti sexual harassment bills in the Parliament. The event being held at Auditorium of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will acknowledge 9 years of struggle of AASHA members and supporters that culminated in two laws; Amendment in Criminal Procedure Code (and PPC) 2010, and Protection Against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010. It is also an effort to appreciate the government for making this historic progress towards ensuring women empowerment. Working women from all fields of life particularly from police, private sector, medical and education departments will share testimonies on positive impact of these laws on their personal and professional lives. Hosted by Sahira Kazmi and Abdur Rauf, the event will be interspersed with skits by renowned actors Samina Ahmed, Ali Saleem (Begum Nawazish Ali) and Masood Khwaja, short video clips and music. Eminent feminist poet Kishwar Naheed will recite a special poem on the occasion.
