Journalist among 3 dead in KP blasts

NOWSHERA - At least two persons including a police woman were killed and 12 others got injured when a remote control device exploded in the main gate of district courts Nowshera on Tuesday. Local sources said that a police woman Shazia and police personnel were on their routine duty at the main gate of district courts when suddenly a planted remote control device exploded with a big bang. The blast caused fear and panic in court premises while several lawyers and some common people were seriously injured. Local rescue teams rushed towards the site and shifted the injured persons to Combined Military Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital Nowshera. Staff Reporter from Peshawar adds: A senior tribal journalist, Nasrullah Afridi, who belonged to Khyber Agency, was killed in a car bomb blast in Khyber Super Market Peshawar Cantt on Tuesday evening. Police sources and eyewitnesses said that the bomb was planted in his car in which Nasrullah Afridi was about to board. Afridi was correspondent of Urdu Daily Mashriq newspaper since last several years. Militants several times attacked his house in Khyber Agency due to which Nasrullah was forced to reside with his family in Hayatabad, however, now-a-days he was living in Yarwali Plaza situated in the same place. Soon after the incident rescue teams and Edhi ambulances rushed towards the site and shifted his body to mortuary of Khyber Medical College for autopsy. Police and Bomb Disposal Squad also reached the site and cordoned off the area. According to Bomb Disposal Squad, the bomb weighed about half kilogram.
