TANK - A member of peace body was shot dead and five others got injured when unidentified armed persons ambushed their vehicle in a suburban area some 20 kilometers off Tank in southwest.
The incident took place in the limits of Gomal Bazaar Police Station on Thursday. According to FIR lodged by Attaullah, son of Ghulam Ahmad, he along with five other colleagues including Shafiullah, Allah Jan, Khadim Gul, Ahmad and Muhammad Ayyub was on the way back from Raghza to Kota Azam after attending a jirga when some unknown armed assailants ambushed their vehicle near Khur (stream) near Murtaza, resultantly all of them got injured. He told police that exchanged fire but the assailants who were four to five in number fled the scene. Goma Bazaar police informed that one of the victims namely Shafi Ullah, son of Jan Muhammad, resident of Kot Azam, succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital whereas the others five people were shifted to DHQ Hospital.
, Dera Ismail Khan, for medical cover from THQ hospital Tank. Police registered a case while no arrest was made till filing of this report. The dead body and injured persons were said to have been activists of local peace committee, which was established to counter TTP elements in the past.
