Two-day Hunar Mela concluded

LAHORE (PR): A two-day Hunar Mela, organised by the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) concluded here on Saturday, attracting more than ten thousands school going boys and girls students with their teachers and parents. Approximately three hundred employers visited and witnessed the technical & vocational education and training (TVET) facilities available in the province of the Punjab.
The two-day Hunar Mela was supported by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Reform Support Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Member National Assembly Shaista Pervez Malik, Secretary Industires/Chairperson TEVTA Ali Sarfraz Hussain, Programme Director Education GIZ Pakistan Dr. Julie Reviere spoke on the closing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Shaista Pervaiz Malik said that TEVTA, in accordance with the vision of the Govt. of the Punjab, is doing its full efforts to provide trained manpower as per requirement of the industry.  It can play vital role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan with sustained and organized efforts.  TEVTA has launched German Pakistan Training Initiative (GPATI) Program which is a great contribution to offer international standard courses here in Punjab. This mela would facilitate the youth to train themselves in the skilled courses.  GIZ is supporting to enhance the standard of TVET across Pakistan.  The dream of the Chief Minister is that youth should technically be empowered to contribute for the prosperity of our beloved country.
Ms Julie Reviere said that Pakistan has plenty of natural and human resource for economic development.  With clear vision and sustained & organized efforts to implement it, TVET sector can revolutionize socio-economic landscape in Pakistan.  TEVTA can play its vital role in the national development process by providing trained workforce for local industry and also for export to the global set-up.
Secretary Industries/Chairperson TEVTA Ali Sarfraz Hussain said that availability of skilled manpower is not only a key to success for industrial development of Pakistan but also for individual socio-economic prosperity and poverty alleviation in the society.  Close and effective liaison with the industry is helping TEVTA for training the youth in demand driven and employable trades.
