LAHORE - A vehicle of Elite Force, in the motorcade of the Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani, struck into an electric pole erected near Rahat Bakery, leaving five personnel injured in North Cantt police precincts on Wednesday evening. The condition of two personnel was stated to be critical in Surgical Unit of Combined Military Hospital. Top police sources said the vehicle was moving in front of the motorcade when it surprisingly turned turtle. Apparently nothing could be established either it was a murder attempt on Chief Minister Balochistan or it was mere an accident, they added. Sources claimed the vehicle was struck with such force that its front and back seats were completely damaged and dislocated. To a query, they said Nawab Aslam Raisani was on the way after visiting the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at 90-Shaarey Fatima Jinnah in the evening when the incident took place. Another source claimed that the CM Balochistan had left for Islamabad when the incident took place and the Elite vehicles were returning. Neither the tyre burst into air nor it seemed a drivers negligence but what happened is yet to be answered, they remarked. Elite Force sources said all the force was deputed on the route of CM Balochistan on Wednesday. One driver, one in-charge on front seat and three other elite force personnel were sitting in the said vehicle when the incident occurred, sources said. According to them, three out of five personnel suffered multiple injuries and were rushed to the CMH for their immediate medical treatment. The condition of one is stable but other two are in critical situation. They suffered multiple wounds on faces, arms, chests, hips and legs, they revealed. Seconds after the incident took place; red-alert was declared in the area and security officers took position in order to tackle any kind of emergency situation. Sources said the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Syed Ahmed Mobin, divisional SPs, SHOs along with a good number of police contingent cordoned of the area but after conducting initial inquiries they considered it an accident and moved on. The Elite Force In-charge Faisal Yousuf could not be contacted despite repeated calls made by this scribe. Further investigation was underway.
