Hazara outclasses Kohat and Mardan in netball event

PESHAWAR Hazara region defeated Kohat and Nowshehra regions in opening matches and qualified for semi final in netball event in the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Games being played here at Qayyum Sports Complex. Hazara (women) netball team did well and outclassed its rival Kohat and Nowshera teams in the first day matches. The team comprising Marium, Malgalari, Farah, Khoula, Khizran, Zara, and Shehrish, Hazara region defeated Kohat team by 5-1 while secured 9-1 win against Nowshehra. To formally kick off the netball (men-women) matches, a function was held with Deputy Speaker Provincial Assembly Khushdil Khan as the chief guest. Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Netball Association Ms Nadia Khan and Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association Zulfiqar Butt were also present on the occasion. He formally inaugurated both female and netball event. In his opening remarks, he appreciated the organisers for involving the youth in healthy activities and assured the youth that the government would ensure required facilities to them. Prior to start netball matches, both male and female players of various participating teams were formally introduced to him. In another netball match, Bannu defeated Peshawar by 3-1. Similarly, in men netball competitions, Peshawar defeated Mardan by 10-5 in another thrilling match as Khalid and Javed were outstanding with perfect shooting. Likewise, Malakand outclassed Kohat by 8-1. In the wrestling a total of 60 players are taking part in seven different categories like 55kg, 60kg, 66kg, 74kg, 84kg, 96kg, and 120kg open weight. Former director sports gomal university, Dera Ismail Khan was the chief guest. The basketball, squash, kabaddi and baseball (men and women) and softball (men and women) will be organised on November 11-13. The two events baseball and softball will be organised at Mardan.
