ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) central leader, Ahsan Iqbal criticised Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira for misrepresenting Asghar Khan case with an aim to hoodwink the people, detract them from the real facts and gain cheap popularity.

Talking to media persons here on Saturday, PML-N leader said his party accepted the Supreme Court of Pakistan verdict in Asghar Khan Case, adding that it would welcome any investigation in the light of the verdict.

Ahsan Iqbal made it loud and clear that any attempt on the part of the ruling alliance to postpone the upcoming general elections would have disastrous fallout and PML-N would resist it. Seeing clear defeat in the upcoming elections the ruling PPP was trying to malign its political opponents but people of Pakistan would not fall pray to their design, Ahsan added.  He advised the rulers to shun the politics of vendetta and hatred prevalent in 1990s and should come forward to help strengthen the democratic order in the country.

Ahsan Iqbal further said that the present govt did nothing good for the poor masses and all what they had given to the people was poor law and order situation in the country particularly in Balochistan and Karachi, worsening economy and continuity of former President Pervez Musharraf’s policies etc.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the party which is headed by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari was de-facto head as C0-Chairman was not even registered with Election Commission of Pakistan so all the political activities being carried out by the party are illegal. He further said that the ruling PPP candidates had contested 2008 elections under the banner of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians whose chief is Makhdoom Amin Fahim. He revealed that PPP had not accepted the results of 1970 elections and had rigged the elections held in 1977, so it was a proven fact that PPP was pioneer in elections rigging.

Dubbing President Zardari as Gorbachev of Pakistan Ahsan Iqbal said that he was brought in to destroy the country. He demanded to end the role of agencies in politics and also claimed that in 1993 Younis Habib had paid Rs 250 million to PPP.

Defending Mian Nawaz Sharif, he said PPP signed Charter of Democracy with him and later by signing NRO breached the same.
