The deadly trend of targeted killings in Karachi shows no sign of abating as nine more people were gunned down in the city on Sunday.

Despite the claims of security high alert after Saturday night killings, three more people including father and his two sons were shot dead by unknown assailants at Islam Chowk of Orangi Town area of the city on Sunday. The victims were identified as Jarrar Hussain, Sajjad Hussain and Imdad Hussain.

In another incident, a person was killed and two others including Edhi’s driver injured during firing between two groups near Edhi Morgue in Sohrab Goth area.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat’s spokesman said that the two of the victims were their workers. He said that the victims went to the morgue to collect the bodies of their workers who were shot dead on Saturday.

Rescue and police sources said that two bodies were found from Meetha Dar and Banaras areas while another person named Ajmal Khan was shot dead in Metroville area.

Another incident of the firing occurred in Liaquatabad area when unidentified armed men gunned down one person and injured five other including Asad Raza, the son of a slain Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Qamar Raza. Later, Raza also succumbed to his injuries during treatment in a hospital.
