LAHORE – The Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) has started inquiry against Education EDO Pervez Akhtar on his alleged involvement in embezzlement of Rs102 millions under the cover of purchase of new furniture and illegal recruitment.

According to sources, an SST teacher, Syed Zeshan Haider, lodged a complaint with the ACE, saying that the accused embezzled in the name of purchase of new furniture and recruited more than 140 employees after taking Rs80,000 bribe He alleged Akhtar received from every applicant seeking job in education department.

The ACE after initial probe into the matter has started a regular inquiry and demanded related record from the Secretary School Education.

However, Akhtar was of the view that a departmental inquiry into the same allegations was launched that exonerated him.
