LAHORE - The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday observed Malala Day with a renewed pledge to work for the promotion of education of girls.

In a message, LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar, Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad said that Malala Yousafzai represents Pakistan’s young women and she speaks out for all those who have been denied education in the past purely on the basis of their gender.

They said that Malala is the daughter and pride of the nation and her personal sacrifice for promotion of education will not go in vain and the entire country is proud of her courage.

“Malala Yousafzai is new a global symbol of every girl’s right to an education.”

The LCCI office-bearers said that observance of the Malala Day by the international community is a demonstration of the realisation that the entire world supports Pakistani women in their fight for their rights. They said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry understands that there are 5.1 million children that are out of school and out of which 63% or over three million are girls and LCCI would continue to strive for the betterment.
