LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Saturday sought from the Punjab government record of all prisoners released on the parole.

Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik issued these orders on a petition moved by a citizen challenging the release of a prisoner involved in murder of his brother.

Petitioner Yaqoob Ahmad submitted an accused Asim had killed his brother and was sentenced to jail for ten years. However, the accused remained in the jail for some months, and the provincial government had release him on parole.

The petitioner contended the release of a killer on parole was against the norms of justice and fundamental rights of the victim family.

He prayed the court to cancel the release of Asim and send him to jail again.

The court heard initial arguments and sought reply from Punjab government.

The court also directed the provincial government to produce till Dec 08 complete record of the prisoners who have been released on parole.
