RAWALPINDI – A man was murdered over petty issue at Mujahid Village within the limits of Police Station Chontra on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Saif Khan son of Mian Khan. The killer managed to escape from the scene while police registered a murder case against him and started interrogation.
According to police, a brawl occurred between Saif Khan and one Shamsher Abbas, during a Punjabi poetry competition held at Mujahid village. After exchange of hot words, Shamsher pulled out his pistol and fired at Saif killing him on the spot. Police, on receiving information, rushed towards the crime scene and took the dead body into custody. Later, the dead body was moved to District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) by the police and rescuers for autopsy.
A murder case was filed while further interrogation was on, informed Sub Inspector Allah Yar, the investigation officer, when contacted.

On a query, SI replied that several police parties have been constituted which were conducting raids at various localities to arrest the killer.
