KARACHI (PR) - Turkey and Pakistan play very important roles in their respective regions and defence ties between the two countries are becoming ever closer. This was said by Mr Murad Bayar, Undersecretary for Defence Industries of the Republic of Turkey at a reception hosted last evening in his honour  by the Turkish Ambassador Mr Babur Hizlan.

The Turkish defence undersecretary is leading an 80-member and 13 companies’ delegation that is participating in the Ideas 2012 exhibition being held in Karachi. Speaking informally to the media at the reception Mt Bayar said their visit has been excellent as all Turks consider Pakistan as their second home.

He said that the visit was also proving productive as it had given an opportunity to both sides to renew contacts and take the relationship further. He said Turkey was pleased that the defence projects underway between the true countries were progressing well. He added that a series of very productive meetings had already been held in this respect.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said on Saturday the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) had catapulted world confidence on the resilience of  Pakistan’s institutions and its people.

Talking to media during his visit to the IDEAS-2012, he said the ongoing five day event would also pave way for investment and business opportunities in Karachi. “This is because the 7th IDEAS arranged at such a massive level has helped to project a positive image of Karachi in particular and the country in general,” said the governor.

He was extremely appreciative of Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) for holding international defence exhibitions in Karachi.

He said this had significantly contributed in reposing world confidence in Pakistan’s efforts for peaceful co-existence.

The governor congratulated the Ministry of Defence Production, provincial government, city administration and the people of Karachi for their respective contribution in making the event extremely successful.

“These joint efforts have helped sending a positive message to the world community,”said Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan.

He reiterated that IDEAS 2012 has dispelled the impression created about the port city and consequently improves the opportunities it offers due to its geographical location.
