Prime Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf has said that 2013 is the year of elections.

Addressing a ceremony to mark exhibition of photographs of South Asia Photo Journalist Association the Prime Minister expressed the confidence that these would not only nourish democracy but also lay foundations for a sustainable political system in the country.

The Prime Minister said the PPP Government pursued reconciliatory policy as envisioned by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. The Government has been following this policy to combat all kinds of challenges in a bid to strengthen democracy.

Raja Parvez Ashraf said media and Government always work for the common good of the society. He said the PPP Government believes in independent and free media.

He expressed the confidence that photo journalists would strive hard to help project soft image of the country. He announced three million rupees for the Association.

Earlier‚ the Prime Minister went round the different sections of exhibition and evinced keen interest in the photos of those leaders including Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed who played an epoch making role in the history of Pakistan.

He also visited the special gallery reserved for the photos of Bhutto family depicting various phases of their political life.
