KARACHI - The politicians, journalists, writers and civil society activists at a gathering arranged at Karachi Press Club on Saturday paid rich tributes to the ruling PPP’s leader late Fauzia Wahab, who always voiced loudly for human rights, women rights and democracy.
The gathering of launch of a book ‘Muskrahat Zinda Rehti Hay’, written by journalist Mujahid Barelvi on the personality and political struggle of late Fauzia Wahab was attended by the PPP leaders, ministers, lawmakers as well as representatives of the other parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami and the MQM in large number.
“Fauzia Wahab was not hypocrite anymore, she was a genuine political worker,” the speakers said while paying rich tribute to her.
Senate Chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari while speaking on the personality of Fauzia Wahab termed her as bold enough to maintain her relations with other political parties. He said that Fauzia Wahab was a true follower of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s philosophy as she had believe in the continuity of political process and remained committed to the PPP till her last breathe.
Reminding Wahab’s closed relations with him, Nayyar Bukhari said that she was loyal to friends and party, adding that we all have to play our role in the continuity of the political process. He believed that no power can stop the democratic process if we struggle like Fauzia Wahab did for the democracy.
Federal Minister Information Qamar Zaman Kaira, who worked with her as colleague in the party and national assembly, said that being a genuine political worker hailing from middle class, Fauzia Wahab always seemed keen to make change in the country.
Kaira praised the role she played for the strengthening of the party as well as for democracy and said she was fair to party, workers and friends.
Federal Minister for Defence Syed Naveed Qamar while sharing his views said that Fauzia Wahab is one of great examples for political workers. She truly represented party at every platform. She always supported truth, he opined.
Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while paying tribute to the late Fauzia Wahah said that we all workers and leaders of all parties still miss her you. He said that Benazir Bhutto chose Wahab and she proved practically what BB was expecting from her.   Ali Wahab, the elder son of Fauzia Wahab speaking on the personality of his mother said his mother taught good things, which he will continue to practice.
PPP leaders and lawmakers Chaudhry Manzoor and MNA Nafeesa Shah also shared their experiences with Wahab, saying her commitment with the PPP was matchless. Fauzia Wahab did a lot for progressive politics in Pakistan, said Nafeesa Shah, adding that she was not a smile but a laugh and left all of us untimely.
MQM’s Deputy parliamentary leader in national assembly Haider Abbas Rizvi and Senator Babar Ghauri while speaking said that Fauzia Wahab always keep relations with the other parties despite continuing strong affiliation and advocacy for her party of PPP.
She was a true political worker as her role will always be remembered with respect; MQM’s leaders said this while paying rich tribute to her.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Muhammad Hussain Mehanti and author of book Mujahid Barelvi also paid rich tribute to personality and role played by the Fauzia Wahab for democracy.
