Roots conducts RYMUN to engage youth, envoys in talks

ISLAMABAD – Roots International School is proud to be the first one in Pakistan to conduct the most interactive General Assembly Session of Roots Youth Model United Nation (RYMUN) on Saturday at local hotel.
This General Assembly session was moderated by Mohammad Rasahad Duraewoo, High Commissioner of Mauritius to Pakistan. The session was presided over by the ambassador’s moot, says a press release issued here.
The RYMUN’12 General Assembly Session is the central body of the four-day mammoth event. The ambassadors moot included the ambassador of Argentine Republic Rodolfo Jose Martin-Saravia, who is also the Ambassador of Rymun’12. The other members were Dr Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar, High Commissioner of Malaysia, Said Hindam, Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt, Alik Orozov-Ambassador of the Kyrgyz, Mourad Bourehla, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia, Mishi Masika Mwatsahu, High Commissioner Kenya, Emilian Ion, Ambassador Romania, Jesus Yabes, Philippines Ambassador, Hugo Gajus Scheltema, Ambassador Netherlands, Peter Heyward, Australia Ambassador, Petros Mavroidis, Ambassador of Greece, Istvan Darvasi.
The session comprised two parts. The agenda of the GA were “Protection of global climate for present and future generations of humankind” and “Promotion of new and renewable sources of energy” will be discussed. CEO Roots International Schools Walid Mushtaq engaged with the ambassadors and the delegates regarding the passing of the resolution for the general assembly session.
Discussions were concluded on how the renewable energy will play a key role in the global transformation of the energy system and international mechanisms and bodies operating to promote renewable energy and implementation of green economy policies. Policies were discussed for easy access to affordable and modern energy resources: a prerequisite for achievement of sustainable development. Protection of global climate for present and future generations of humankind was emphasized upon. Climate change from different perspectives was also discussed.
The Ambassadors covered the combating of the threat posed by climate change. The also discussed the mechanism of sustainable development.
In the second half of the session, the Committee Chairs will present the draft resolutions of their committees and the Ambassadors discussed and voted in favor/against the draft resolution of every committee.
The RYMUN’12 General Assembly session basically aimed to involve both youth and the ambassadors on one platform and engage them in dialogue and discussion with regards to the agendas. This enlightened the delegates over information regarding the issues at hand. The ambassadors got a chance to interact with the youth and get a different perspective separate from their own.  Roots International Schools believes in involving youth in all aspects of the planning process and to inspire the next generation of leaders to become involved in global issues and RIS achieved their aim by their first successful General Assembly Session.
