Upcoming polls to be youth dominated

GUJRANWALA - As many as 84.3 million voters are expected to use ballots in the upcoming general elections of 47% are from the age group of less than 35 years while 20% are of below 25 years of age which will make it a youth-dominated elections of the country’s history. It was revealed by an NGO “Individual Land” Research Officer Shaukat Ali Ashraf, while addressing a media workshop on the upcoming elections.It will be for the first time in the history of Pakistan when a civil government will execute transfer of power through elections by fair and peaceful means, he hoped. He added that it would be the responsibility of all stakeholders along with judiciary and media to ensure fair and free polls throughout the country.“There will be no room for biased means in the upcoming elections as free media and social media will not spare any foul play during election campaign and on the polling day he said.He said a great responsibility lied on shoulders of media to expose wrongdoings besides discussing characters of the candidates in accordance to the Constitution and electoral code of conduct.
