LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said success of PML-N in the first phase of local bodies’ elections in Punjab reflects confidence of the masses in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.

The chief minister said this while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of 1223 megawatt gas-based project at Balloki yesterday.

Shahbaz Sharif said on the instructions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif works was started for the production of 3600 mw gas-based energy five months ago, out of which work has already been started on two projects and foundation stone of the third has now been laid at Balloki.

He said the government was making round the clock efforts to end energy crisis. As much as 3600 mw electricity will be available to the Pakistani people from gas-based projects in 2017 adding, record Rs 110 billion have been saved in this project, he added.

One of these projects Punjab government is spending money from its resources while the other two by the federal government. He said that we should thank Almighty Allah that practical shape has been given to the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in a short period of five months.

He said that Neelam Jehlum project, Tarbela-4 or any other energy project, work on all these is being personally monitored by Prime Minister. He said that Chinese company Harban International and American company General Electric had set up Guddu Power Plant at the rate of $0.834 million per megawatt and now these companies are setting up gas-based projects at $0.469million per megawatt at Balloki.

The chief minister said that it is proof of the fact that these companies have complete confidence in Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and they are well aware of this fact that under his leadership no politician or officer can demand any commission rather all matters are settled transparently and in a profession manner.

He said that we have to maintain this standard.. Had this standard been adopted in the past, we would not have been wandering with begging bowl today, he added. He referring to the first phase of local bodies elections in Punjab said that the people have fully authenticated the 2013 general elections by ensuring excellent success of PML-N and given a message in open words that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif should march forward for strengthening economy and removing darkness from the country and they are with him.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Nawaz Sharif has eliminated the trend of filling pockets with commission by contractors, politicians and bureaucracy and the excellent victory of PML-N in first phase of local bodies election is proof of this fact. The Chief Minister said that despite difficulties the government continued to move ahead with patience and perseverance. He said that development projects were left incomplete during era of previous government.

CEO of National Power Parks project Rashid Mehmood addressing the function said that four lakh families will be provided electricity from Balloki power plant and two crore population will benefit from it.

He said that modern machinery is being used in this project and its working capacity is 61.63 percent. He said that this project will start generating electricity in 2017 and 5 billion 80 crore rupees will be saved in fuel while 38 billion 50 crore will be saved in construction cost.

Vice President of China Harbon International working on the project said that his company has completed nine electricity projects in Pakistan and assured that Balloki power plant project will be also be completed speedily and within stipulated period.

He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his team are actively working for elimination of load-shedding from the country and their efforts will bear fruit. Earlier, Prime Minister laid foundation stone of Balloki power plant.
