LAHORE: Renowned ghazal and film singer Arthur Nayyar aka A Nayyar passes away on Friday evening.
The legendry singer A Nayyar who was suffering from the heart disease breathed his last here in the provincial capital Lahore at the age of 66 years.
The well known singer who started his carrier in 1974, sung hundreds of ghazals and songs for the films.
His first film song 'Yunhin din cut jayen, yuhin shaam dhal jaye' was a duet song with Rubina Badar in film 'Bahisht' (1974), composed by A Hameed. Nayyar declared well-known singer Ahmed Rushdi a vital contributor to his career as he learned screen playback from Rushdi.
Nayyar was one of three innovations in the singing field in the 70s. He was awarded “Nigar Award” five times for his performance.
He earned his first Nigar Award for best singer in director Hasan Askari’s film “Aag” in 1979, Nigar Award for best singer in director Sangeeta’s film “Jeenay naheen doon gee” in 1985, Nigar Award for best singer in director Pervez Malik’s film “Ghareboan ka badshah” in 1988 and Nigar Award for best singer in director Sangeeta’s film “Taqat ka tufaan” in 1989.
The deceased has left behind three daughters and a widow.
People belonging to showbiz, film industry and senior politicians condoling death of A Nayyar prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace and courage for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with courage.
